By October, our kaimahi/support workers start hearing from clients who are already feeling the stress of the upcoming holiday season. Many are concerned about how they’ll make Christmas special for their children, especially when they're already struggling.

To alleviate this burden, Aviva relies on the generosity of our supporters to provide food boxes, vouchers, and unwrapped gifts suitable for adults and teenagers (we generally get lots of gifts for toddlers!). These gifts are then distributed to clients in greatest need. Our goal is to restore dignity by providing parents with items they can gift to their children, serving as a reminder of community kindness.

 

We've developed several strategies to engage businesses, organisations and individuals in supporting Aviva's Christmas Giving programme:

  1. Gift Collection: Encourage your organisation, customers, team or staff to bring unwrapped gifts and place them under a Christmas Tree at your work. Gifts can be delivered to Aviva's gift room at the Loft any time before Friday 14th December, or you can arrange with us for them to be picked up.
  2. Black Friday Promotion: Encourage customers to "shop to give" during the Black Friday sale, with purchases during this time donated to Aviva's Christmas Gift Room.
  3. Donating Old Stock: Consider donating suitable new but old stock items like clothing, accessories, gift items, accessories, toiletries, and treats to the Gift Room.
  4. Donation Buckets: Host a donation bucket to collect gold coin donations.
